Message from the General Manager
Since its founding in 1921, Komatsu has grown from a local manufacturer in Japan into a global leader in construction and mining equipment. Our evolution from production to worldwide operations has been driven not only by innovation in technology, but by our unwavering commitment to people. Developing human resources has always been part of Komatsu’s DNA, shaping talent that sustains our growth and strengthens our future.
In 2008, Komatsu Ltd. inaugurated Komatsu Human Resource Development Center (KHRDC) in the Philippines, opening doors for Filipino engineers to join the ranks of Komatsu’s global workforce. For the first time, we recruited and trained global engineers here in the Philippines, setting in motion a program that has now shaped careers for 18 years and counting.
Today, I am deeply honored to serve as the first Filipino Global Engineer, trained through this very program, to become General Manager of HRDC. My journey from trainee to leader was marked by challenges and struggles, but it was the program’s discipline, mentorship, and global standards that molded me into the engineer and leader I am today. I stand on the strong foundation built by the dedication of previous General Managers, whose vision and hard work paved the way for the success of this program.
Komatsu’s top management has recognized the strength of Filipino talent nurtured through HRDC. By promoting Filipino engineers into leadership roles, they affirm the program’s success and highlight the Philippines as a frontrunner in Komatsu’s global vision.
As General Manager, my mission is to continue opening opportunities for the next generation of Filipino global engineers. Together, we will uphold Komatsu’s commitment to delivering quality and reliable service to customers worldwide. With human resource development at the heart of our mission, we remain dedicated to upholding our three pillars: Recruit, Develop, and Empower. Through these, we will continue to create value for our customers, partners, and stakeholders across the globe.
The Komatsu HRDC program stands as proof that Filipino talent can rise from trainees to leaders, from local engineers to global managers. It is a testament to the power of training, perseverance, and vision. As we look ahead, we welcome young and determined Filipino engineers to join us—ready to take on the global stage as Komatsu engineers.
