Komatsu Ltd. celebrated its 100th anniversary in May 2021.
Komatsu, first established in 1921 as a small ironworks in Komatsu City, Japan, has grown to become a global company in 100 years. Now our customers in construction and mining industries expand to more than 140 countries, and as a result Komatsu is the second largest construction equipment manufacturer in the world.
Our living standards are not a given. They’re supported and improved by the innovations and endeavors of wide-ranging industries. Komatsu is proud to support these industries with our products, services and solutions.
Our marketing policy is to carry out our activities “from the customers perspective” and “becoming indispensable to our customers”. To attain our objectives, Komatsu enhanced capability of after-sales service, especially after 2000 for our mining customers in accordance with increasing our sales to the mining industry.
In 2008, Komatsu established Komatsu Human Resources & Development Center (KHRDC) in Metro Manila and started to work with the Filipino people as partners to bring up Komatsu Service Engineers. In 2019 KHRDC became Komatsu Philippines Corporation (KPC) as a 100% affiliate of Komatsu. Currently, 109 Filipino engineers who have successfully completed the rigorous six-year training program are working all over the world as “Global Engineer”.
Komatsu is now focusing on a new initiative to develop sustainable technology and eco-friendly products to support society’s growing needs in an environmentally responsible way. Unmanned mining machine operation “AHS”, “Smart Construction”, electrical motorization of machines, and other innovative systems equipped with AI solutions, have been and are continuing to be developed to strengthen efforts in maximizing our corporate value towards the next generation and develop the worksite of the future. At the same time, there will be many opportunities for aspiring Global Engineers to take part in Komatsu’s direction on creating value together towards a sustainable future.
