Nihongo Lessons & Training in Japan

Being assigned to the Kanazawa Plant was a great challenge, especially as a solo trainee. Fortunately, the Mining QA team was approachable and always encouraged me to stay positive. I learned many things during the Japan QA training, which helped strengthen my adaptability, resilience, and independence. Although it was tough, I also enjoyed my stay in Kanazawa and our tour of several regions in Japan. I am very thankful to KLTD and KPC for giving us this wonderful opportunity to learn about Komatsu's Quality Assurance and experience living in Japan.

OJT at Domestic Jobsites

Our Domestic On-the-Job Training, both in the mine site and in the field service, was an excellent avenue to sharpen our understanding of the theoretical knowledge we gained in the first stage of training.

As a woman, it was a privilege to represent our community in the male-dominated industry. In our three-month OJT, I was able to experience work in Gemba and the challenges that came with it. The long hours of work, demanding conditions and challenging situations allowed me to grow as a person and as a global engineer trainee.

I send my gratitude to Komatsu Philippines Corporation for giving me the opportunity to hone my skills, broaden my knowledge, and enhance my work as an aspiring global engineer through the domestic OJT.

-Ms. Jumao-as, 17th Batch Global Engineer Trainee

The second stage of my Komatsu Global Engineer Trainee journey opened my eyes to the real jobsite environment. Through my OJT in Semirara and Bataan, I transformed classroom knowledge into meaningful hands-on experience. The challenges I faced in the field strengthened my confidence, resilience, and patience, while working alongside skilled professionals taught me the value of teamwork and practical problem‑solving. This stage inspired me to continue growing as a leader and be ready to guide others with purpose and commitment.

-Mr. Mante, 17th Batch Global Engineer Trainee

During my domestic OJT in the mining site and field service, I learned many important skills that helped me grow as a future engineer. I gained hands‑on experience with heavy equipment and construction equipment, especially in troubleshooting, preventive maintenance service, component replacement and machine assembly. Working with Maxima mechanics also taught me the value of safety and teamwork in daily operations. This training helped me understand Gemba in the field and how to apply what I learned in the classroom. My domestic OJT is important because it prepared me for bigger responsibilities as a Komatsu Global Engineer Trainee.

-Ms. Desacula, 17th Batch Global Engineer Trainee

My Domestic On-the-Job Training at Semirara Mining and Power Corporation and Batangas City Maxima Mechanic Station as a Komatsu Global Engineer Trainee provided a valuable platform for both professional and personal development. The program enabled me to effectively apply theoretical knowledge in a real operational setting, further enhancing my technical competence through hands-on experience at the Gemba. Additionally, collaborating with professionals from diverse backgrounds strengthened my communication skills and fostered meaningful professional relationships.

I would like to express my sincere gratitude to Komatsu Philippines Corporation and Maxima Machineries Incorporated for providing this valuable training program and for their continued support and guidance throughout my Domestic OJT.

-Mr. Armamento, 17th Batch Global Engineer Trainee

My OJT at domestic sites provided valuable exposure to the Gemba, enhancing my technical and professional skills. I gained practical experience with Komatsu mining and construction machines, honed my critical thinking under pressure, and learned to work efficiently in a team. The experience also emphasized the importance of safety and resilience, helping me build readiness for future tasks.

-Ms. Paguntalan, 17th Batch Global Engineer Trainee

My time at the Gemba during my Domestic OJT was a turning point in my development as an engineer. It honed not only my technical skills but also my discipline, adaptability, and sense of responsibility. Being exposed to actual field conditions challenged me to think critically and act proactively. I realized that real learning happens through actual experience on site.
